About the Trustee position
Kelly is running for an open seat to represent Service Area 4 on the Los Rios Community College District’s Board of Trustees. Trustees set policies to ensure that the district meets its educational mission, spends its money responsibly, follows laws, and provides safe and adequate facilities. There are seven board members who represent different regions in the greater Sacramento region but are responsible for the district as a whole.
About Service Area 4
Service Area 4 includes Davis, West Sacramento, Clarksburg, unincorporated parts of southeastern Yolo County, and south Sacramento County, including the western half of Elk Grove. The district is unique in that it includes three centers and one community college campus: Cosumnes River Community College, CRC Elk Grove Center, SCC West Sacramento Center, and SCC Davis Center. The Davis Center is the only community college center on a University of California campus in California.
About Los Rios Community College District
Los Rios is the second-largest community college district in California, stretching from Folsom to Davis. The district includes four colleges and six education centers and serves about 75,000 students.
